Aspen Meadow Campground

Golden Gate Canyon State Park is located about 10 miles northeast of the town of Blackhawk . The park offers two individual family campgrounds (Reverend’s Ridge, Aspen Meadow), a group campground (Rifleman Phillips), and 24 backcountry campsites. Campsites vary from primitive to paved sites with electric hookups and shower facilities.

The Aspen Meadow campground is a tent only campground situated just beyond a large meadow rimmed with aspen and lodgepole pines. The elevation here is about 9,100 feet. The gravel road through the campground divides it into four loops. About half of the 35 campsites are walk-in sites. Most of the vehicle access sites are located in the first part of the campground (Meadow Loop). Each of the loops has a vault toilet. The Meadow and Conifer loops have water. The Rimrock and Twin Creek loops do not. Dense lodgepole pine and aspens provide ample shade and privacy. Tent pads are level and well defined.

The scenery at Golden Gate Canyon is breathtaking. The campground is open year round and is especially popular during the summer months.  Reservations are accepted.
