Blue Lake Campground
     

     The Blue Lake Campground is located about 18.5 miles southwest of the town of La Veta at an elevation of 10,500 feet. This campground has 15 campsites suitable for small RVs and tents. It is situated above Blue Lake in an open area surrounded by spruce forest. Some sites are without shade while others are located in dense spruce forest. Campsites are generally large and offer good separation. Facilities include two vault toilets and a hand-pumped water hydrant. One of the toilets is wheelchair accessible. The road through the campground is gravel surfaced. Blue Lake is a short hike from the campground. Bears may frequent this campground so food precautions should be taken. Reservations are not accepted. During the summer, the site receives heavy use on the weekends and holidays. Open May through early October.

FISHING: Fishing is available in Blue and Bear lakes.

HIKING: Hiking is available on the Indian Creek Trail.

BIKING: Mountain bike riding is available from the Indian Creek Trailhead.

MOTORIZED TRAIL RIDING : Numerous motorized and 4wd trails in the area.

Directions:
     
From Walsenburg, travel about 11 miles to Highway 12. Turn south and go 4.7 miles to La Veta. Continue south on Highway 12 for about 14.5 miles to Forest Road 413/422. Turn west and travel about 4 miles to the campground.
