West Chicago Creek Campground
     

     West Chicago Creek Campground is located about nine miles southwest of Idaho Springs at an elevation of 9,600 feet. The campground is situated in a stand of lodgepole pine and aspen along West Chicago Creek. There are 16 sites in the campground. All of the campsites are suitable for RV camping. Most of the sites are well wooded, providing ample shade. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring or grate. The maximum vehicle length that can be accommodated is 30 feet.
     The roads through the campground are dirt. There are two water hydrants and one restroom. There is also a picnic area for day use. An additional water hydrant and restroom are located at the picnic area. None of the restrooms will accommodate disabled persons. Reservations are accepted and can be made 5 - 240 days in advance. The season for this campground normally runs from late May through mid September, depending on the weather. Check with the Forest Service for the current fees.

Activities:
FISHING: Fishing for trout is available in West Chicago Creek that runs along side of the campground.

HIKING: Hiking is available on the nearby Hells Hole trail that enters the Mount Evans Wilderness.

BICYCLING: A few jeep trails offer opportunity for mountain bike riding.

SIGHT SEEING: Take the Mount Evans Highway for a great scenic drive.

Directions:
     Take I-70 to Idaho Springs (exit for SR103). Travel south on SR103 for approximately six miles to the turnoff. Turn right and travel about three miles to the campground. The campground is on the left side of the road.
